In winters, the room air humidity drops considerably. The most efficient method of humidification is use of in duct humidifiers. These humidifiers add humidity to the air coming from the furnace. The warm humid air being blown into rooms through the air ducts. In duct humidifiers do need cleaning so as to remove waste water and clogs.

In duct or Whole-house dehumidifiers remove humidity from indoor air, reducing uncomfortable stickiness and mitigating the likelihood of mold growth that may trigger certain illness and cause damage to a home. If you live in a naturally humid region or are simply a fan of extra-long steamy showers, you may benefit from a dehumidifier. 

The nice thing about whole-house dehumidifiers is that they connect to the home’s HVAC system to remove moisture throughout every room in the house, not just one. They’re pricier than other types of dehumidifiers, and in many communities, local codes will require professional installation. But they’re usually pretty quiet and can help reduce cooling costs in warm weather seasons.

In duct dehumidifiers are installed on the return air vents. It’s best to have a separate air vent for dehumidification, but it is possible to share a return duct for HVAC, ERV and dehumidifiers.
